Kenny Young

Two main influences inspired Kenny Young to start playing the drums. The first was Kenny’s uncle giving him a drum set. The second was seeing a friend play the drums live at a local concert. Not long after Young started playing, he discovered drummers Buddy Rich and John Bonham (Led Zeppelin). Listening to those drummers made Kenny very motivated to get to a professional level on the drums. In addition to Rich and Bonham, Young also drew influence from seeing several drummers from local underground and lesser known bands. The more Kenny saw and heard these drummers, the more he wanted to become a famous rock drummer.

Kenny Young’s “In the pocket” style of drumming, comes from a combination of excellent rhythm, the ability to keep time and putting the right fills in the right spots. "It's important not to over do it. Sometimes less is more," says Young. Kenny is not just "the drummer," he is also considered the bands "official" time keeper.
