 Michael Thorne

At the age of 12 while playing the game Guitar Hero, Michael Thorne first heard the song “One” by Metallica. From that point on Thorne wanted to become a professional musician. Two years later he got his first guitar and played it almost nonstop. Then after hearing the song “Peace Sells” by Megadeth he quickly switched to playing the bass guitar. Michael then started learning several Metallica and Megadeth songs. Playing those songs made him realize that he needed to join or form a band. He started jamming with several different musicians and not long after Thorne became Blackwood's bassist.

As a bassist, Michael Thorne’s approach is to play what needs to be played in a song without overdoing it. “If a song calls for simple, I keep it simple. If I’m needed to play technical then I’ll play technical,” says Michael. Thorne’s deep bottom end tones and disciplined style makes him a great liaison between the drums, guitar and vocals.
